In fact, design thinking can be applied to design or product design, as well as our daily life in order to provide more creative solutions. <\/span><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">So, design thinking is a mode of thinking.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">What\u2019s special of it is that it combines various perspectives: environment, ease of use, problem-solving, etc. It also cares about the level of creativity in problem-solving. Does it have insight into the overall concept? Is the proposed solution creative? <\/span><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Another saying is that design thinking is people-oriented. The design has to consider the needs of users and their behavior. In another word, be user-friendly. The fundamental of these designs is for commercialization, popularization, rather than for the purpose of aesthetic or artistic only.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Design thinking is a kind of creative thinking. As it is diversified, resulting in a win-win situation, which is a perfect balance between people, design, and environment. <\/span><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Sometimes the steps and sequence may change due to the difference between purpose and targets. In fact, design thinking, like creative thinking, does not have certain rules.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Learning creative thinking or design thinking should not be too rigid about the tool itself. It may limit us from producing good ideas. Having basic knowledge is essential, however, we must remember that the tools have their limitations. When we are able to integrate them, we should develop our own new tools.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">In general, the steps of design thinking include nine steps: problem study, definition, research, concept formation, prototype formation, selection, introduction, learning, and modification. These nine steps are also the basic processes that Project Works Group places in the curriculum.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Bear in mind that these steps are not always in a fixed order. You should clearly understand what kind of problem you have to solve. For example, building a building requires to design not only cement, bricks, but also lighting, temperature, lines, functions, and so on. So we must first clarify the problem at the beginning.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Observation is needed to solve the problem. The environment, usage habits, materials, time, climate, will often complex the problem. Thus, we will require different expertise to join together to tackle the issues. At this stage, we have to clarify:<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 What is our problem?<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 What is the meaning of it?<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 What is the rationale behind the problem?<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 What is the expected result?<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 What is the value of solving this problem?<\/span>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h2><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Step 2: Definition<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">At this stage, we have to clarify:<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Identify the problem<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Who is the target?<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Segment the goals to be achieved and prioritize them<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 What are the key success factors?<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 What is the core value?<\/span>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h2><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Step 3: Research<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">At this stage, we have to:<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Confirm the needs of users (not only the request of the client)<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Identify the users\u2019 need for this design<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Brainstorm to start your idea<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Collect considerable opinions (do not sort the ideas as there are no good or bad at this stage)<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Do not criticize ideas<\/span>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h2><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Step 5: Prototype Formation<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">At this stage, we have to:<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Expand ideas, diverge with various possibilities<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Classify and refine the ideas to produce the right solution<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Combine ideas and form preliminary models<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Explain to a different audience and seek their opinions<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Choose an idea that everyone is satisfied with<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Explain the best way to the client and explain the reasons behind it<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Examine your work in a neutral perspective<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Use various ways to make models, animations<\/span>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h2><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Step 6: Selection<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">At this stage, we have to:<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Look at the project from a third party perspective<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 What will the project look like, and who will benefit from it? How to benefit? Who will be harmed? Is there a solution? Is there a way to avoid it?<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Add more five senses into the design<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Find someone to play the role of the opponent in the team<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Consider the feasibility of existing resources<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Is there any prior communication needed?<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 The simplest, labor-saving, time-saving, and money-saving solution is not necessarily the best solution<\/span>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h2><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Step 7: Introduction<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">At this stage, we have to:<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Create maps and manuals<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Make a task list<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Identify resources<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Allocate tasks<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Manage risk<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Perform tasks<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">\u2022 Transfer of operation rights<\/span>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h2><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Step 8: Learning<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">At this stage, we have to:<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\"> \u2022 Use counters, detectors, video recorders to record usage<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\"> \u2022 Collect feedback data from users<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\"> \u2022 Confirm whether the solution has achieved the desired effect<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\"> \u2022 Measure the operational status, collect information, establish original samples<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\"> \u2022 Take pictures, record, make history files<\/span>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h2><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Step 9: Modification<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">At this stage, we have to:<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\"> \u2022 Arrange monitoring groups to monitor project operations regularly<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\"> \u2022 Fine-tune the task<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\"> \u2022 Record all processes and continue to manage<\/span>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h2><span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Design Thinking and Creative Thinking<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"color: #7a7a7a;\">Design thinking emphasizes on people-oriented.
